The dry climate in Lanzarote does not naturally lend itself to the creation of lush green golf-courses.This is a shame as the perfect year round weather would allow golf to be played at times when it is not possible elsewhere — at least not without some disomfort.
The advent of de-salination plants, which produce abundant water straight from the atlantic means that it is now, possible to produce the rich growth of grass needed for a top-class course.
This important fact, coupled to the desire of the Cabildo to take tourism much more upmarket in Lanzarote, has allowed for additional golf courses to be planned and constructed.
