46 Heineken Jazzaldia l San Sebastian 2011

San Sebastian will be offering these artists ten whole stages around the city such as the Zurriola beach and the San Telmo Museum!

San Sebastian’s jazz-festival JAZZALDIA is an annual festivity that since its creation in 1966 has come to host more than 1 400 musicians. It is one of the biggest events in the city, and this year it takes place between July 21st and July 25th.
Amongst the artists that have performed here throughout the years we find all the major names in modern Jazz from the last few decades:
Javon Jackson, Sarah Vaughan, Eddie Palmieri, Freddie Hubbard, Jo Jones, Charles Mingus, Gerry Mulligan, Keith Jarret, just to mention a very few.
Several of these artists have chosen to perform at Jazzaldia more than once; B.B King being one of them (1979, 1984, 1990, 1995) and also one of this year’s main attractions.
On July 21st he will be the one opening the festival at 20h (free entrance!), and it is going to be a show that really can not be missed if you happen to be in the area at this date.
Besides B.B King, the program of this year’s 46 Jazzaldia is something quite extraordinary. Well established Jazz and Blues legends such as Toots Thielemans, Dave Douglas, Cassandra Wilson, The Charlie Haden Quartet West, John LcLaughlin and many more will mix with younger talents and provide us with four unforgettable musical days.
What is more, San Sebastian will be offering these artists ten whole stages around the city on where to perform. We invite you all to come here and enjoy jazz live in the company of thousands of other enthusiastic people on prime locations such as the Zurriola beach and the San Telmo Museum!
